Laying on the sandy shore of Besaid Island, a young blond haired youth rested of the beach. This was Tidus, one of the greatest heroes around in the world of Spira. Taking a break from playing hero, Tidus was catching up on some much needed rest. When he was finally comfortable sleeping, he was suddenly awoken by a hard whack to the face. Eyes widening, Tidus quickly jumped up, only to find a blitzball as the source of the facial attack. Picking up the ball, he angrily stared off towards the ocean, spotting two kids who looked a bit scared. Quickly realizing it was a mistake, Tidus smiled, waving at the two. "Accidents happen, don't worry about it, guys!" He yelled in a cheerful tone, remembering the accidents he caused when learning to blitz. With a quick smile, he threw the ball into the air. As it slowly came down, Tidus did a back flip into the air, kicking the blitzball in mid air, causing it to skid across the water and towards the two kids. It was going very fast, but slowed down as it made its way to the children. A perfect shot. Scooping the ball up, they yelled thank you, and returned to playing their game.
Smiling and waving at the two, Tidus let out a big yawn. "Man...Things have been so dull lately!" He complained to himself. "Wakka's too busy being a dad to play blitzball...Khimari is a leader now...And I can never find Rikku!" He said, putting his hands on his side and sighing. Pacing a bit, he shrugged, before deciding he would just go see what was going on in town. Before he could leave the beach however, Tidus found himself startled by a scream.
Quickly turning around, Tidus saw only one of the children, who was screaming for help and pointing off towards the deep water. Peering, Tidus saw the other child rapidly being pulled out into the ocean! Was it a wave? Having no time for questions, Tidus ran and dived into the ocean, quickly swimming near the screaming child. "I'll help your buddy! Get out of the water!" He asserted. The kid agreed, trudging out of the ocean while sobbing. Swimming as fast as he could, Tidus was getting closer to the kid being dragged out.
Eventually, right in front of the boy, Tidus reached a hand out to grab him, but just before he could, the boy was quickly dragged underwater. Tidus gasped, and quickly dove underwater himself. Being a blitzball player, the water was Tidus's second home, and he could see perfectly underwater and stay under for as long as he wanted. Swimming further down, he saw the child, and finally saw what had been dragging the kid this whole time...a fiend.
It was a large fish like beast, about as big as a house. It had light green scales, except for dark red ones on it's back, it's most dangerous feature however, was its two giant tusk like teeth, which it had been using to drag the child. Reaching for his sword, Tidus grabbed the Brotherhood sword, and dove deeper towards the beast, instantly unleashing a quick slash, before automatically swimming underneath the fish.
Roaring in pain, the beast looked around, only to quickly receive two fast swipes to the guts, before Tidus swam up behind it, quickly slicing it three times in the back. Letting out a pained roar, the beast went limp, and starting floating towards the surface. Swimming quickly, Tidus unhooked the boys shirt from the beast's tusk, grabbing him and quickly swimming to the surface. Looking at him, Tidus's expression grew worried when he realized the boy wasn't awake.
Slinging him on his back, he swam as fast as he could, quickly making it to shore. Running towards the sand, Tidus quickly through the boy on his back. Dropping to his knees, Tidus began pumping on the boys chest. When he received no response, Tidus grew worried, before desperately pumping his chest as well as he could. To his relief, the boy coughed up water, before slowly coming to. Looking around, he looked up at Tidus, blinking slowly.
"You're that guy we pegged with our blitzball! What happened..?" The boy asked. Standing up, Tidus smiled. "You got dragged off by a fiend in the ocean...but I rescued you." Tidus said with a bit of pride in his voice. The boys eyes went wide, before jumping up. "Oh my gosh, thank you, Mister...uh..?" "My name's Tidus!" Tidus quickly replied. The boys eyes grew even wider. "Of the Besaid Aurochs?!" He eagerly asked. With a slight chuckle, Tidus smirked, giving the kid a thumbs up. "That's me alright! The one and only!" He said proudly.
The boy seemed starstruck. "You're the reason I blitz!" He said happily. That made Tidus beam with happiness. Rubbing the kids hair, he smirked at him. "Tell ya what, meet me here tomorrow, and I'll show you how to blitz...but ONLY if you promise not to go that deep in the ocean anymore!" He said. The boy nodded excitedly. "I promise!" He said, stuttering a bit. Tidus nodded. "Good! Meet me here tomorrow then, same time. For now, you should probably go find your friend." He said. The boys happily nodded again, before running off to find his friend.
Sitting back on the sand, Tidus stared off at the ocean and smiled. A rather boring day had taken a turn, offering him a bit of excitement. And he couldn't help but feel a bit accomplished, having saved a kids life and all. And tomorrow he was gonna give the kid blitz lessons! "But, wait!" Tidus said, slapping his forehead. "I still have a whole day ahead of me with nothing to do!" He cried. Falling into the sand, Tidus let out an annoyed groan, and before he knew it, he was snoozing on the beach again.
